Background Information

The Semper Fi Fund provides urgently needed resources and support for post-9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Case managers from the Semper Fi Fund work one-on-one with service members and veterans in order to understand and support their individual needs immediately and throughout their lifetime. The Fund provides direct financial assistance for expenses, such as medical bills, hotel rooms for family members at the bedside, and living essentials that are most pressing for a wounded service member during a long hospitalization or rehabilitation. Support continues after the initial injury to include housing assistance, apprenticeship skills, rehabilitative sports programs, adaptive transportation and equipment, transition assistance and support for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. We keep our overhead low so our impact on the lives of service members and veterans is high. The Semper Fi Fund has been awarded the highest ratings from charity watchdog groups: A+ from CharityWatch, one of only two veteran nonprofits to receive this rating in recent years, and 4-Stars from Charity Navigator.

CSA Support

Community Service Association, San Diego Unified School District has generously supported the Semper Fi Fund for five years. The 2017 grant funding will be used to cover education expenses for San Diego County service members through the Fund's Education and Career Transition Assistance Program; the program's goal is to empower veterans to succeed in life outside of the military.
