Sexual Health Education

Comprehensive sexual health and HIV prevention instruction are required by the CA Healthy Youth Act and San Diego Unified School District. The Sexual Health Education Program is part of the Physical Education, Health and Athletics Department. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division and Adolsecent and School Health (CDC DASH).

Primary Goals:

  • Deliver accurate sexual health information to all SDUSD students.
  • Increase access for students to local youth-friendly sexual health service agencies.
  • Facilitate safe and supportive campus environments for LGBTQ students.
  • Promote long-term goal setting, healthy decision making, and responsible behavior among our students.
