As a result of the District Closure due to the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration, the Dependent Eligibility Audit has been suspended until such time as the District resumes normal business. For participants who submitted documentation and were confirmed eligible, nothing further is required. Once the district resumes normal business, communication will be provided about the resumption of the audit. No health coverage will be terminated during the district closure.
In January 2020, San Diego Unified began an audit to confirm eligibility of dependents (spouses, domestic partners, and children) covered on the district's health plans. The audit, conducted by the California Schools Voluntary Employee Benefits Association (VEBA) through McGregor & Associates, A Gallagher Company, is to fulfill a requirement as a participating district in VEBA and to preserve the integrity of eligibility requirements under our employer-sponsored health plans. If you have dependents currently enrolled in our health plans, you will receive information via U.S. Mail from VEBA beginning January 6, 2020. The documents required, directions for submitting them, and audit deadlines are outlined in the information being mailed. Failure to respond to the request for documentation, OR if dependents are found to be ineligible, will result in those dependents being dropped from coverage on April 30, 2020.
