Many schools in the San Diego Unified School District were constructed at a time when asbestos was widely used in building materials from around the 1950's to the 1980's. The District has procedures in place to properly inspect, maintain, and clean asbestos-containing materials to ensure the health and safety of all of our building occupants from asbestos-related hazards. The EHS Office through its Asbestos Unit oversees the District's Asbestos Management Program as required by law.
