School Year Calendar Change
San Diego Unified School District leadership is implementing an earlier start date for student instruction. This change will take place through a gradual adjustment over the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years. Since employee calendars are created around the student instructional calendar, the Payroll Department has created a guide to help you understand how these changes will affect your pay, paycheck deductions, and leave accruals. CalPERS Special Power of Attorney
What would happen if an employee would become unable to act on their own behalf? A CalPERS Special Power of Attorney allows employees to designate a representative to perform important duties as it relates to their CalPERS business should they become unable to do so.
Take advantage of the CalPERSNetwork YouTube channel, which provides a CalPERS Special Power of Attorney video that can be viewed at your convenience. Check out the CalPERS Special Power of Attorney publication as well as the fillable form for more information.
Election Day Information
If a voter does not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote at a statewide election, the voter may, without loss of pay, take off enough working time that, when added to the voting time available outside of working hours, will enable the voter to vote.
No more than two (2) hours of the time taken off for voting shall be without loss of pay and shall only be at the beginning or the end of the regular working shift, whichever allows the longest duration of free time for voting and the least time off from the regular working shift, unless otherwise mutually agreed.
If, on the third working day prior to the day of election, the employee knows or has reason to believe that time off will be necessary to be able to vote on election day, the employee shall give the employer at least two working days’ notice that time off for voting is desired, in accordance with this section.
