Children who will have their fifth birthday between September 2, 2015 and December 2, 2015 are eligible to enroll in a Transitional Kindergarten program. Transitional Kindergarten provides time for younger students to engage in early academic learning experiences designed to promote success in kindergarten and beyond.
Parents may choose to enroll their kindergarten age-eligible children in a Transitional Kindergarten Program by signing a Kindergarten Continuance form available at school sites.
Full-Day Program
Schools provide a full-day program for Transitional Kindergarten students. Exceptions to this recommendation were made for a select set of schools that provided a compelling rationale and community support for a modified-day program. The following schools have been approved to offer a modified day program : 1) Dingeman, 2) E.B. Scripps, 3) Loma Portal, and 4) Longfellow.

How to Register
Families can register their eligible students (five years old between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2) at their neighborhood school or, between November 1 and February 15, can request another campus through the Choice Program. The Choice program option is available via the district website at www.sandi.net/apply . Once you've selected to apply in English or Spanish, select the link that asks, "Is your child new to the district?".
Transitional Kindergarten is a part of the public school system and is free for families.
