Retirement Benefits Information

District employees are eligible for Deferred Compensation Plans and, if qualified, a defined benefit pension plan either from the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) or the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).

Deferred Compensation Plans

San Diego Unified School District employees now have the opportunity to enroll in two deferred compensation plans, a 403(b) plan and the new 457(b) plan. Employees can choose to contribute to the 403(b), the 457(b) or both. For more information about the new 457(b) plan, please read the materials provided below.

Requests for 403(b)/457(b) transfers, withdrawals, and loan documents may be emailed to deferred.comp@sandi.netor faxed to 619.725.7692. Documents delivered in person, by email or fax will be processed in approximately two business days.
