MEDIA ADVISORY: Hundreds of San Diego Unified Students to Become Professional Photographers for a Day
WHAT: As a part of San Diego Unified's commitment to getting students career and college ready, more than 200 students will have the opportunity to take part in Photo 360, a series of workshops that will allow them to experience what a career in professional photography would be like. Photo 360 is a 4-D photography experience that includes real-world photography scenarios. High School students will be provided with a DSLR digital camera and will rotate through five professional photo studio workshops during the day. Students will be exposed to a variety of current photographic techniques as well as traditional film and darkroom processing methods. Photo 360 will allow students to experience competitive photography in a professional environment in the new state-of-the-art photography studios at San Diego City College. In addition, students will have the opportunity to photograph various people, fashion models and objects, including an opportunity to collaborate with high-end fashion designer Ugochi Iwuaba.

VISUALS: High school photography students will be actively photographing Ugochi Iwuaba fashion models, various subjects and working in several professional high tech photography studios throughout the day. Students will be led by City College photography professors and professional photographers. This event is a high energy fast paced venue. Visuals will include: The new state-of-the-art photography studios, lighting equipment, professional models, Macro photography, hundreds of student photographers, exhibit hall, darkrooms, classrooms and photo galleries.
SPEAKERS: City College: President Ricky Shabazz, students, teachers, college professors and local professional photographers (Interviews available in both english and Spanish)
BACKGROUND: Photo 360 is designed to provide students with a real world experience in professional photography at one of the leading college programs in San Diego. San Diego Unified School District, San Diego City College District and Nelson Photo Supplies have come together to promote the art and passion of photography to high school students. In addition to this unique opportunity, resources and information will be provided to students who wish to pursue post-secondary education and careers within the world of photography.
