Imagine Brave Spaces

Next week, we will be offering a program called Imagine Brave Spaces to offer their program to our 7th grade students. They work to educates young kids on the dangers of human trafficking and fulfills the state mandate to start addressing the issue of human trafficking in schools (AB 1227). They also dig into broader issues like internet safety, having appropriate boundaries, warning signs amongst friends, etc (see below the program description and link to the website). This will be presented to 7th graders via a pre lesson in their History class starting next Tuesday, 4/16, a larger assembly on 4/17, and a post lesson on 4/23.

Program Description:
Zion's Story is a new human trafficking prevention and awareness program for middle and high school youth, families, and communities. This one-of-a-kind creative and interactive experience cultivates awareness, empathy, and action while at the same time building community and connection within the participating group.
The program takes a holistic approach to prevention by addressing vulnerabilities and root causes that lead to trafficking. It also supports participants in identifying the intersections with other well-being and safety issues affecting young people today, including substance abuse, peer bullying, decline in mental health, and online and gaming addictions.
If for some reason, you do not wish for your student to participate (they will be missing two History class periods and just not attend the assembly), please reach out to your student’s counselor as soon as possible so we can coordinate with your student’s teachers.
